HRA (Hot rolled Asphalt) is a bitumen based material normally laid by a paver machine, but can also be hand laid, depending on the area.

The process of Asphalting is achieved by the HRA normally being laid as a top coat at about 40mm thick, depending on traffic flow. A pre coated stone is then laid on the top and rolled in just as the material is cooling in order for the chip to bond. This allows the pre coated stone to take several years of wear.
